Community festival at Rietvlei Zoo Farm

This festival aims to create awareness for local businesses and the community policing forum and to raise funds for the Victim Support Unit (VSU) Sector 1.

THE Annual JhbSouth.co.za Community Festival will be taking place over two days at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, from 11:00 to 17:00 on both days.

This community outdoor festival aims to create awareness for local businesses and the community policing forum and to raise funds for the Victim Support Unit (VSU) Sector 1, whilst providing local residents with demonstrations and activities with family fun and entertainment.

Rietvlei Zoo Farm is situated on Swartkoppies Road, south of Johannesburg. The farm is regarded as Joburg South’s best-kept secret, due to its position and relaxed family and outdoor environment with features such as picnic areas, farmyards, party and conference venues, bicycling and walking trails, offering outdoor facilities and activities for exhibitors and visitors.

The festival will include the following activities: fund-raising walk and ride, family mud challenge, food and drinks stalls, classic and modern vehicle exhibitions, beauty pageant, arts and crafts market stalls, business expo stalls and display area, soccer demos and tournament, dance shows, face painting, jumping castles kids’ zone and various stage entertainment and SAPS demonstrations. There will be various fun activities and entertainment for the whole family on both days.

The VSU fund-raising 5km family walk takes place on Saturday, October 29 and starts at 12:00, and the VSU fund-raising ride takes place on Saturday, October 29 and starts at 12:30. Cost is R30 for adult and R20 per child and includes entrance into the festival event area. Proceeds go to the Victim Support Unit. The Mr and Ms JhbSouth.co.za beauty pageant also takes place on the Saturday. Registration and entries cost R100 per person and include entrance into the festival event area. The Jhb South mud challenge takes place on Sunday, October 30 from 8:00. The challenge includes a 4km walk with fun mud obstacles along the route. Entries are R200 per adult and R100 per child. Entries need to be done online – www.ninjatickets.co.za.
