Angry mob burns alleged drug house

Local residents admitted that they burnt the brothel to save their children from the drug dealing foreign nationals who operate these kind of houses in the South.

AN angry mob admitted to have burnt down an alleged brothel in Haig Street, Rosettenville following a large protest against drugs in the South on Friday, September 9.

Local residents admitted that they burnt the brothel to save their children from the drug dealing foreign nationals who reportedly operate these kind of houses in the South.

Speaking to the COURIER they said they are sick and tired of watching certain foreign nationals operating hijacked houses for prostitution and drug dealing and getting away with it.

This outburst came less than an hour after the end of a big anti-drug protest that was held in Rotunda Park and graced by the presence of the newly appointed MMC of Public Safety, Michael Sun, and various other stakeholders from the City of Johannesburg. But Pearl Moagi, spokesperson of the MMC of Public Safety, said the people who burnt the house did not come from the protesting group.
