Clean audits for Gauteng

Well done to Premier Makhura and leadership team on the positive achievement.

THE ANC in Gauteng congratulates Premier David Makhura and all the MECs that work with him for achieving clean audits, according to the outcomes of the office of the Auditor General.

“We also take this opportunity to highlight that the trend of unqualified opinions in the province is ongoing. What is particularly noteworthy is the fact that for the first time in 13 years, all of our provincial departments received unqualified opinions. As the ANC in Gauteng we are particularly proud that all of the entities within the province also performed very well and received unqualified reports.

“While we congratulate the ANC-led government of Gauteng province, we call on all MECs and financial officers in the various departments to eradicate fruitless, wasteful and irregular expenditure. We applaud efforts already taken which are yielding fruit as this kind of expenditure has gone down significantly from last year. This is another example of our holding public office bearers to account,” Gauteng ANC head of communication Nkenke Kekana told the media.
