CRYSTAL Church in Aeroton calls for 240 loaves of bread for #MandelaDay on the church’s 24th birthday on Sunday, July 24.

Rev Carl Hendricks who has pastored Crystal Church alongside his wife Joan for the last 24 years started Crystal Church on his front stoep in St Mattas Avenue, Klipspruit. They are now situated in Aeroton just next to Southgate Mall in a 4 000-seater auditorium with a 1 000-seater Youth Auditorium and community wellness centre.

“We have so much to be grateful for and all the praise belongs to God. It’s His church and we extremely appreciative to have had the responsibility to lead God’s people all this time,” said Rev Hendricks.

This year they would like to dedicate their church’s 24th birthday to #MandelaDay, taking it to the community. “We are encouraging our larger community in Johannesburg South, our congregation and friends to donate towards this celebration. Together we can do so much more. The event will take place on Sunday, July 24, from 09:00 to 12:00 at Crystal Church.

“Under the theme: Food Security, the initiative forms part of Nelson Mandela International Day that was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on 18 July, 2009. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that ‘It is in your hands now.’ It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.

Donations can be delivered to Crystal Church at any time on the 23rd and 24th July. Contact PRO Glisson Niekerk (011 494 1363 or 073 228 0584) at any time should you wish to get involved and for more information.
