UPDATE: Protesters shut down construction of houses

The people were singing that Cllr Faeeza Chame must go.

Angry protesters are making their voices heard regarding the South Hills Housing Project.

They claim they do not want workers from outside the ward 57 because the locals are supposed to benefit from the project the most.

“These workers from as far as Orange Farm are even coming to our homes looking for rooms to rent because they have taken the jobs which were promised to us the locals,” said one of the angry protester.

The Southern COURIER is still in communication with with MMC for Housing Daniel Bovu’s office and the Mayor’s.

Protesters said they want to elect their own Community Liaison Officer and their own Labour Desk Officer for they do not want the current Labour Desk Offer known as Thabiso.

The construction company is due to comment on this protest, which had a police presence since it turned violent in 2015.
