Hundreds of guests flocked to the Turffontein Racecourse for an open invitation to the Grand White Event’s open invitation picnic, on Saturday, April 2.

According to Leigh Hopewell from The Write Agency, the highlight of the day was Abashiri, who won the R2-million Gr 1 SA Classic. He now only has to win the third leg on April 30 to join an elite group of horse-racing heroes to win all three legs of the Triple Crown, last achieved by the phenomenal Louis the King in 2014.

“South African horse racing fans will be glued to their screens and a bumper crowd will be expected at Turffontein on April 30 to witness what will be an exhilarating end to the Triple Crown,” she said.

Champions Day will also host the popular Intercontinental Village, which will be showcasing culture, tradition, community and foods from around the globe, making for a great family fun day out.
