Big clean-up begins

Clr Peter Stewart, the DA PR for Ward 125, said, “Pikitup Southdale has offered two front loaders and four tippers to come in and clean-up the unsightly mountains of stinking rubbish.”

MONDEOR Pikitup Garden Refuse Site, in Royal Park Drive, Mondeor, is seeing the site and surrounding areas being cleared of rubbish and waste material after Pikitup Southdale offered assistance.

Clr Peter Stewart, the DA PR for Ward 125, said, “Pikitup Southdale has offered two front loaders and four tippers to come in and clean-up the unsightly mountains of stinking rubbish.”

“This is fantastic news,” said Rene Parker, a Mondeor resident who lives in the immediate area of the site, and who had called the COURIER out earlier in the week to see the huge mass of waste material and rubbish which had been dumped outside the Mondeor Pikitup Garden Refuse Site.

The COURIER reporter visited the site on Wednesday, April 6, and saw work underway in cleaning up the mass of rubbish.

A garden service company had just arrived to drop off garden refuse and the driver said, “This is great news. This site is supposed to be for garden refuse only but look at all the other rubbish which has been dumped here. The smell is atrocious.”
