Regents Park dangerous pothole

There is a huge pothole at the corner of James Street and Augusta Road.

IT seems that the Johannesburg Road Agency’s (JRA) workload is getting harder by the day.

There is a huge pothole at the corner of James Street and Augusta Road.

Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chame said this pothole was reported months ago but nothing was done. “The only thing that will happen is for a car to ride over this pothole and get damaged. The hole was so huge that I could stand in it. Our residents must please be careful before an accident happens,” she said.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, operations manager: marketing and communications at JRA, said, “The JRA is committed to ensuring quality roads that are accessible, safe and liveable for our communities and as such we would be grateful to receive the service request reference number that was logged so that we are able to escalate the matter internally and hold staff accountable.

“We have alerted the regional depot to this pothole to immediately (3 March) secure the road and undertake repairs. The turnaround time for pothole repairs once logged with a reference number is three working days.

“The JRA encourages residents to report road and storm water issues to 0860 562 874, hotline@jra.org.za, Twitter @MyJra or via our award-winning JRA Find&Fix mobile app, so that we may be of service.”
