Leaking meter to be sorted

JOBURG Water urges residents to report any leaks, be it water pipes or water meters. This will help to trace the progress of the maintenance.

Eleanor Mavimbela, Joburg Water external communication officer, said it is important for residents to report leaking water meters as soon as possible so that a team can come out, as leaks can result in a lot of water being wasted. “Residents should also ensure that they get a reference number whenever they log a call so that they can follow up with the progress of the call,” she noted.

However, Mr Manono Ntuli, a resident in Elandspark, has a leaking water meter next to the wall outside his property.

“This water meter has been leaking since 2014 and I reported it. My wall is about to fall because of this water,” he said.

Mavimbela said she has logged the call on behalf of Mr Ntuli and a reference number has been issued.

There are various ways in which residents can log a call:

• 24 hour water hotline: 0860 562 874

• SMS line: 082 653 2143

• Email: customer@jwater.co.za

• Twitter: @jhbwater

• Facebook: Johannesburg Water.
