Opportunity for youth

Unemployed youth are characterised by their lack of employability resulting from a range of socio-economic factors.

BELIEVERS Care Society (BCS) youth development project aims to equip unemployed and unskilled youth with employable skills and provide the basic life-skills, information and assistance that enables employment.

Training will start on Monday, February 1. Courses to apply for include: PC engineering, system development, popular music performance, end-user computing, contact centre support, bookkeeping, office skills and educare. All courses are accredited through relevant Skills Education Training Authorities (SETA) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). Classes will be for the duration of three months, six months or 12 months respectively. Training takes place at the Youth Development Centre in Turffontein.

Youth with a passion for any of these subjects are encouraged to register now.

To qualify, one must be between 18 and 35 years, a resident of Joburg South, have matric or equivalent as Grade 10s are taken on other skills programmes. Candidates must be willing to study and to complete training duration and are not allowed to miss more than three classes. Classes are from Monday to Friday, five hours per day.

To register candidates require a copy of their ID, proof of residence or an affidavit from police, previous qualifications and a short CV. No fees are required or payable. Only unemployed and unskilled youth are accepted.
