One killed, child airlifted from Joburg collision

Three other adults, one of them in a critical condition, and a six-year-old child, also in a critical condition, was found in the vehicle.

ONE person was killed and a six-year-old had to be airlifted after a collision between a bus and a car on the Golden Highway, South of Johannesburg on Saturday morning January 2.
ER24 Spokesperson, Werner Vermaak said at about 08:00, paramedics arrived on the scene where they found a BMW that was t-boned by a bus. On further inspection paramedics found an adult in the BMW that sustained fatal injuries. Three other adults, one of them in a critical condition, and a six-year-old child, also in a critical condition, was found in the vehicle.
“Paramedics extricated the occupants of the vehicle and called the ER24 Medical Helicopter to the scene for further assistance. The child sustained critical injuries and was later airlifted to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for further medical treatment. One of the adults that sustained critical injuries was rushed off to the same hospital by ambulance.
“Another adult was treated for moderate injuries before being transported to hospital. The driver of the bus sustained moderate injuries and was assessed on scene. It is understood that he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the collision. He was later transported to hospital,” said Werner.
