SAPS issue warning

Those who have fallen victim to these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH: It has come to the attention of the South African Police Service (SAPS) that there is an online recruitment scam currently operating in the country. The scammers are inviting unsuspecting job seekers to apply for bogus police trainee posts.

There has not been any new advertisement from SAPS for entry level trainees and as such there are currently no vacant posts available for aspiring police officers.

“SAPS would like to remind the public that we do not advertise any posts via SMSs. When there are any vacancies in the organisation, posts are advertised in newspapers and the application form is available at all police stations.

“We view this scam in a very serious light and have instituted an investigation to find the perpetrators. Those who have fallen victim to these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station,” said Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, who can also be contacted on 082 567 4153.
