Taxi driver critical after shooting incident

The driver of the taxi was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.

A TAXI driver is in a critical condition after he sustained several gunshot wounds on Tuesday evening December 8, while driving along the R82 in Kibler Park.

At approximately 20:00 paramedics responded to the scene where they found four patients involved in a shooting incident. Three people, including a six-month old baby, sustained minor injuries. It is understood they were occupants in the taxi during the shooting incident. The driver of the taxi was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.

“Paramedics stabilised the driver on the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The three people that sustained minor injuries were transported by another service to a nearby hospital,” said ER24 Spokesperson, Werner Vermaak.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known. However, bystanders explained that a vehicle apparently pulled up next to the driving taxi and opened fire. This is yet to be confirmed by the police that attended the incident.
