Legendary Ted Wizard Mills live in SA

Ted describes his R&B music as ''Soul Love Music''.

GROUNDED and humble American Ted Wizard Mills will take to the stage for the first time in South Africa, at GRC The Lyric Theatre, on Friday and Saturday, February 19 and 20, next year.

The COURIER had an opportunity to meet with him at The Lyric Theatre, on Tuesday, November 24. He was in the country for a promotional tour before his performances.

On his tour next year, Ted will collaborate with some of the African players in his band.

“Africa is the core of my family for generations; not every American has an opportunity to play here,” he said.

”I want to play here because I was fascinated by the spirit of Mandela; to connect with people musically will be one of my goals.”

Ted describes his R&B music as ”Soul Love Music”.

He is the lead vocalist for Blue Magic, an American R&B music group who are best known for dreamy Philly Soul ballads, the million-selling ”Sideshow and ”Three Ring Circus”’. He also co-wrote some of the band’s popular sounds. Among the tracks music lovers can look up to are his various number one hits, ”Chasing Rainbows”, ”Remember November”, ”Just my Imagination” and ”Tech me, Spell’ from the ’70s.

“I’m so excited to be singing Blue Magic Hits on South Africa’s soil, in the month of love; I promise to give my all to all the SA music lovers,” he said.

Ted also mentioned that he is the only living being on platinum album with the Rolling Stones, and a gold album with Earth, Wind and Fire.

“People will see on stage how blessed I am, it is the Lord that sustains you to sound great. I’m looking forward to these performances,” he noted.

The Old School Connection Pois is bringing Ted and his band, a live performance definitely not to be missed.

The show is set to start at 20:00 on the night.
