Water drought hits the South of Johannesburg

There are allegations of technical issues at the Forest Hill reservoir due to Supply.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH: Some areas in the South of Johannesburg have been without water for over 24 hours according to residents who phoned the COURIER hoping for an explanation.

Areas allegedly affected include Ridgeway, Robertsham, Chrisville, Southdale, Turffontein, Kenilworth, Rosettenville and towerby.

Resident, Jackie Cornish, told the COURIER: “I live in Rosettenville and since 12:30 yesterday we have had no water.  When I phone the City of Johannesburg the recording stated that there were technical problems affecting various areas in the south and that their technicians were working on it.  Today there is still no water and the message has changed saying that there are technical issues at the Forest Hill reservoir due to Rand Water Supply.  I have tried numerous times trying to talk to somebody but eventually gave up.  I also heard that there is in fact no “technical difficulty at all” but that in fact there is no water in the reservoir, at this stage this may just be a rumour.”

“My grandson goes to nursery school in Oakdene and if there is no water tomorrow, they are advising that they will have to close the school until further notice,” she concluded.
