Learners taken to hospital after their taxi lost control

The learners were rushed to the South Rand Hospital and the Baragwanath hospital.

RIDGEWAY – A group of learners were taken to hospital after a taxi that was supposed to transport them home lost control at corner Rifle Range Road and Swartgoud Street in Ridgway on Tuesday November 3.

At least ten medical emergency vehicles were on the scene to help the learners who suffered injuries after a blue and white taxi carrying 13 learners  lost control. “Fortunately it does not look like any of the learners could have suffered severe injuries,” said a resident who was watching paramedics assist a young girl who suffered minor injuries.

The learners were split into two groups and rushed to the South Rand Hospital and the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.

Meanwhile, CPF members who were helping to control the traffic said the driver’s license had expired a while ago.

The Southern COURIER is investigating.
