WARD 57 Clr Faeeza Chame recently arranged the installation of much needed speed bumps along the sharp downhill North Road bend in Roseacres.
The infamous road is known for weekly motor vehicle accidents and residents regularly had their boundary walls destroyed due to speeding drivers losing control of their vehicles.
“I approached the Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) about this, and after some investigation, they agreed that speed bumps were indeed needed to calm traffic along that dangerous section of road,” explained Clr Chame. Speed bumps on Southern Klipriviersberg Road were also completed.
Member of Parliament for Johannesburg South, Manny de Freitas, added that actions are what count. “In this case, our councillor simply and quickly responded to the needs of the community and delivered to them,” he said.
Since the speed bumps have been installed, the incidence of road accidents has dramatically reduced.
