Woman tied with cable wires during robbery gets justice

The suspects covered the husband with a blanket before they tied his wife up with cable wires.

Two robbers who in 2013 tied a woman with cable ties, while they robbed her husband of R5 000 and stole their cellphones, jewellery, TV, hi-fi, vehicle and a firearm were recently successfully convicted.

Moffatview SAPS applauded Sergeant Sakhile Hlatswayo for his well executed investigations which not only led to the arrest of the two suspects but also led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and firearm.

The robbery occurred in Augusta Street in Linmeyer on May 13, 2013, when three suspects pointed a firearm at the Linmeyer man before taking him inside his house where they covered his face with a blanket and tied up his wife.

Following the information of a trusted informant, Hlatswayo arrested the first suspect a few days later and arrested the second suspect a year later in March 2014.

Both robbers were sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment by the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
