Goodbye Honey Girl

On Wednesday September 23, Honey Girl, the cow who has resided at Johannesburg SPCA for many years, passed away.

JOHANNESBURG – “It was a very sad day for us all at Johannesburg SPCA as we had to bid farewell to Honey, our beloved cow. Tears streamed down the staffs’ faces as we said goodbye to our Honey Girl.
As Honey aged, she grew sickly and unfortunately it came to a point where we had to make the extremely hard decision to put her to sleep,” said Jolene Beyleveld, Public Relations JSPCA.

Some messages from staff who knew Honey right from the day she stepped hoof into our property.

Message from Dave Woodward
“Well my girl, we said our goodbye’s you will always be in my heart, never forgotten. You were a smashing pal. After what you had to go through before you got here, but hey what a great life we had together, with you looking after Os as well. I know you two are back together now. Sleep well old girl.”

Message from Inspector Ronald Ramalata
“It is sad to say goodbye to a friend with whom you grew up with and what makes it worse is that the heart-breaking decision needed to be made and we had to have a final goodbye. Honey came to our organisation, young like me, and the SPCA had become a home for us.”
