Learners decorate cupcakes for a good cause

Several educators each baked a batch of cupcakes and the decorating was left to the cupcake ambassadors (two representatives from each class).

HORIZON High School recently showed their support for Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer by hosting a cupcake decorating drive.

Several educators each baked a batch of cupcakes and the decorating was left to the cupcake ambassadors (two representatives from each class). The boys had free reign and could decorate the cupcakes in anyway they wished. While some of the learners iced the cupcakes, others added different toppings which ranged from sprinkles to fondant flowers and Turkish delights.

The cupcakes were then sold to fellow learners at the school. About R2 500 was raised and all proceeds went to Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer.

According to the learners, it was an awesome initiative and a humbling experience.

The cupcake cups, ambassador badges, piping bags, balloons and flyers were supplied by The Cupcakes of Hope Cancer Foundation (https://www.cupcakesofhope.org/).

In addition to this, some of the Horizon learners and staff spent some time with the children and nurses in the pediatric ward at the Netcare Clinton Hospital. Toys and educational books were donated and cakes were given to the dedicated and hardworking nurses.
