R2 million stolen from ATMs by employee

The man responsible for loading money into ATMs replaced the real notes with fake notes.

EYEWITNESS NEWS reported the arrest of a 30-year-old man who allegedly stole nearly R2 million from his employer and replaced it with fake notes as he was responsible for loading money into ATMs.

SAPS and the Hawks arrested the Limpopo man for theft and he is due to appear in Court for theft.

EWN reported that the suspect is said to have been loading half of the intended amount, while replacing the rest with fake bank notes.

The bank has managed to retrieve most of the money according to the Hawks who told the EWN.
