Santarama Miniland is under renovations

A South resident who visited the miniland recently, claims that the Santarama Miniland has become pathetic and needs serious renovations.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Santarama Miniland manager Brighton Ndlovu, confirmed that the tourist establishment is currently being renovated and that the iconic mini town is struggling financially.

Juli Fourie, a South resident who visited the miniland recently, claims that the Santarama Miniland has become pathetic and needs serious renovations. “My personal opinion is that this was R100 well wasted. It’s embarrassing and I feel that something needs to be done,” she said.

Brighton explained that Santarama is currently being painted in an effort to get the once thriving establishment back on track. According to the manager Juli paid a discounted entrance fee of R25 instead of the regular R35 because the miniland is under renovation.

“I need to categorically state that Santarama Miniland is mainly for children’s edutainment and not for adults. Most of the things here are for children such as the mini soccer and mini golf. The 10 percent of visitors who complain are mainly adults. This is a non-profit organisation run by the South African National Tuberculosis Association (Santa). I suggest everyone who complains, especially the locals, must jump in and support us, maybe make a donation for starters. We are not subsidised by the government and run solely on venue hire and entrance fees,” explained Brighton.

He also mentioned that they cannot changed the structure in the Miniland without public participation. Santarama Miniland is reportedly in a process to be privatised and is working hand in hand with the City of Johannesburg on this venture.

Santarama offers chairs, tables, fridges, music, a jumping castle and mini soccer for any function and is appealing to the public to support them.
