SOUTH HILLS resident Johan Oosthuizen acted promptly and set off to help when he heard screaming from a neighbour’s house in Heilbron Street on Wednesday, August 12.

Two men who posed as meter readers entered the house and robbed a young man of a plasma TV and other belongings.

“I heard someone screaming across the road and I immediately rushed there. Moffatview police were called and the two suspects were arrested. They beat the resident and stole some of his belongings. A case of fraud and attempted murder was opened,” said Johan.

Tanya Oosthuizen commended her husband’s actions.

“My husband, a cancer patient, assisted the police and they caught the two robbers, who are now at Moffatview Police Station. He is a real hero in my eyes and nothing stops him from preventing crime in our street,” she said.

Moffatview police spokesperson Constable Rebecca Bila was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
