Brave Moffatview cop saves the day

The rightful owners of the step-ladder came in that midst and it was safely returned to them.

SERGENT Mbhazima Shisana from Moffatview Police Station trusted his instincts when he stopped two coloured guys with a stolen aluminium step-ladder in Augusta Road, Regents Park on Wednesday August 12.

It turned out the step-ladder was stolen from a house in Frieda Street. COURIER reporter saw the incident when Sgt Shisana stopped the two guys.
“I saw these two guys coming from Frieda Street onto Augusta Road. When they were about to turn to Edward Street, a police van from Moffatview Police Station came and an officer went out to stop these guys. You could see the officer was asking them where they were taking the step-ladder to. The officer was great in securing the scene, he was talking to these guys while holding his holster. He ordered them to put the step-ladder into the back of the van, they then ran away,” explained the COURIER reporter.

The rightful owners of the step-ladder came in that midst and it was safely returned to them.

Martin Ncube was painting the house at Frieda Street. “I went to the back of the house to fetch thinners and when I came back I was shocked and confused because it happened so quickly. Thank you very much to the officer, he helped a lot. That was great work from him,” said Ncube.
Sgt Shisana said he suspected that these guys might have stolen this step-ladder that is why he stopped them.

An eyewitness said he saw these guys alighting in a dark blue Citi Golf (registration is known, waiting for the police to approval). This golf went to the scrap yard nearby, and he said they are from South Hills.
