Husband named as suspect in Odette’s murder

Murder case takes a turn.

OAKDENE – What was thought to be the hijacking and murder of Odette Barkhuizen on June 11, at her business premises in Oakdene, has taken a turn and private detectives and SAPS who have been investigating her murder for weeks, say sources close to the case have revealed her husband has been named as a suspect in the murder.

On the day of the hijacking and murder Odette’s vehicle was found two streets away from the Oakdene residence, only hours after her death.

Her estranged husband, George Barkhuizen, has since her death been looking into her killing and was said to have been struggling to come to terms with her death.

A friend of Odette told the Comaro CHRONICLE reporter on the day of her memorial service, held in honour of her life on June 16, that she suspected her husband was involved with her murder but asked for the information to go no further, until proof was found.
