The search for 2015 ‘Star Mom’

The grand winner will receive an all-expenses paid cruise, for a family of four, from Durban to Mozambique in December.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Eunice Sebabu, from Chiawelo in Soweto, was crowned as the Gauteng finalist in White Star’s national Star Mom search. The announcement was made at Southgate Mall on Saturday, July 18.

In May, White Star, the leading maize meal brand, launched a search for a mom who can cook, is versatile and can turn a traditional pap dish into a gourmet meal or a decadent dessert.

“White Star’s superior quality, light fluffy feel, versatility and great taste makes it the perfect ingredient for a variety of scrumptious dishes. The endless array of culinary possibilities ensures that no matter the occasion, White Star is the perfect ingredient for all the good times,” said White Star marketing manager, Mokhele Makhothi.

“This competition highlights the fact that White Star honours all the hardworking mothers in our country and the winning Star Mom will be crowned in August, fittingly during Women’s Month.”

Moms selected to partake in the competition had the opportunity to show off their cooking skills at selected malls throughout South Africa. The judging duo of actress and self-made cooking expert Lucia Mthiyane and Royalty

Soapie Award winner Mapaseka Koetle, travelled all over the country in search of the Star Mom.

Four moms were chosen in each region to participate in the semi-finals and the winning semi-finalists will now meet in the finals, where they will compete for the number one spot and the prestigious title of Star Mom.

The grand winner will receive an all-expenses paid cruise, for a family of four, from Durban to Mozambique in December.
