Top notch upgrades for Door of Hope

Toys, nappies and everything else needed to ensure the wellbeing of the precious little ones was donated by Good Samaritans

THE Door of Hope branch on Barbara Avenue, Glenvista, received a top notch revamp on Friday, July 10, as part of a twelve month sponsorship project by Williams Hunt The Glen.

Staff members of Williams Hunt launched the community project initiative with a bang. They delivered comfy new sofas for the lounge, a flat screen TV for the children to watch cartoons, numerous boxes of Pampers nappies and baby formula, as well as a mountain of other items.

Alana Coetzer of Williams Hunt said they have decided to sponsor Door of Hope for a year and selected staff members will donate much needed resources to the children, paint the rooms and be responsible for the maintenance of the premises.Nadine Grabham, Door of Hope manager, said: “It’s been awesome. Alana came to visit us last year and she’s been fighting to get all this done. It’s really a blessing, the children love watching TV and our TV doesn’t always work. We’ve had our furniture for ten years and we needed furniture and curtains. They’re (Williams Hunt staff) re-doing our toddler dining area and our driveway.”

Grabham continued to appeal to people to take time out to visit the home and see how they can help. Door of Hope’s biggest aim is creating awareness around the safety and livelihood of babies.

“We’re still finding dead babies so we encourage mothers to bring babies to us because we take care of them and give them families. Our home can take up to 120 abandoned babies,” said Grabham.
