DURING the week of June 10 to 16, Moffatview SAPS arrested 37 suspects for various crimes.

Suspects were arrested for the following crimes: common assault- five, assault under domestic violence – nine; common robbery – one, dealing in liquor without a license – one, fraud – two, intimidation – one, malicious damage to property – one, possession of drugs – one, possession of conterfeit money – one, possession of stolen property – three, reckless and negligent driving – two, shoplifting – three, theft – six, use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent – one.

Missing child found

On Sunday, June 14, a case of a missing child was reported at Moffatview SAPS. Moffatview SAPS would like to thank Sergeant Lebua Mokhele and Constable Victor Mukwevho for going an extra mile and taking the parents to look for the child. The child was found by Alberton SAPS, on the R59 and taken to Hillbrow Clinic for medical tests. He was then taken to Twilight Child Centre in Hillbrow where his parents were re-united with him.

Two suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed fire-arms

On Tuesday, June 9, JPMD members, Elijah Hlalanathi Mthethwa and Eric Setlabo, were conducting crime prevention patrols in Regents Park. The members were driving along when they spotted a grey Mercedes Benz with two men in it. The members made a U-turn, approached the vehicle and identified themselves as police officers. Upon searching the suspects, the officers found two firearms on the men. The officers also found ammunition for the firearms. Both suspects were taken to Moffatview SAPS for possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of ammunition.
