Family still searching for missing son

The Mathebula family is praying for the safe return of their 10-year-old son, Siyakhula, who disappeared from their home along Grootvlei Road, Moffatview, on Friday, June 12.

MOFFATVIEW – His father, Harry, said his son was playing with his mother’s cellphone in the lounge, during the afternoon, after he came home from Hamlet School.

“Siyakhula loves games and he was playing games on his mother’s phone. There was an incoming call and he handed the phone to his mother. That’s when they last saw him. It was about 15:00,” explained Harry.

Siyakhula’s mother, Sibongile, became suspicious when she didn’t see him. She then started to ask around.

Even his sister, Mbali, who was in the lounge, didn’t noticed him leaving the house.

The family reported the matter to the Moffatview Police, however, Sibongile was told that the search will only begin after 48 hours. Sibongile was pleased to see a police van later that day at their house.

The police said a boy was found at a shopping mall but it was not Siyakhula.

On Sunday, June 14, after the 48 hour period, the Mathebula family went back to Moffatview Police Station and a case was opened.
