Coca Cola spoils City Deep family

The family got to experience so many firsts, fly on an plane, stay in a hotel, see the sea and meet a celebrity.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Coca-cola has been making moments of happiness happen in celebration of its 100th anniversary of the iconic contour bottle, by giving away ten special experiences to ten lucky winners from around South Africa.

Recently, a lucky Sizwe Kunene from City Deep in Johannesburg, who is raising his twin nieces following the passing of their mother, won one of these experiences which enabled him to spoil the children and his father, Simon, with a sea-side experience.

The family, who had never been on an airplane before, were flown to Cape Town where they were treated to a five-star stay at the One and Only.

The weekend adventure started with a surprise appearance by 5FM DJ Poppy, who joined the crew for milkshakes in the fabulous hotel lounge, followed by dinner at Reuben’s. A cheque for R50 000 was also given to a speechless Sizwe.

“I am so happy to see my child getting this money. In these times it is so hard to save that amount of money, it would take me many years,” said Simon.

The next day the family was taken on a sight-seeing tour in luxury, convertible cars. Their first stop was Boulders Beach to see the penguins, after which they enjoyed a swim in the sea. Not even the unpredictable weather and ice cold water could stop the group from enjoying their very first beach experience. The full day tour of Cape Town ended with a trip up Table Mountain.

After spending their Sunday morning aboard the Jolly Roger pirate ship, from which they were lucky enough to see a school of dolphins, the family was taken to the Two Oceans Aquarium. Here the twins learnt about the different types of sea life, got to touch a starfish and had fun in the interactive fish tank.
