Old age home raises funds

The home is currently caring for elderly women but would love to attract elderly man too.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Casa Ebenezer Old Age Home stepped up to host another fund-raising event in order to provide better care for the elderly at the home.

The event took place on Saturday, May 30, in La Rochelle, Pioneer Park.

Staff members from the home strongly believe that the care for the aged cannot be left to the responsibility of the government alone, and it is primarily up to each family network to look after their elderly members. However, due to commitments of these family members, either through work or financial demands, this obligation is, in most cases, not being fulfilled.

Casa Ebenezer is able to offer the elderly a retirement home which serves the elderly and makes them feel safe while meeting their emotional, physical and spiritual needs. The home continues to strive, courtesy of all staff and volunteering members, sponsors, donors and everyone who takes time to support the home’s fund raising events.

“We opened our doors on May 1, 2009, to seven elderly woman and we celebrated six years of existence this year. At present we can only cater for woman but we would love to attract elderly men and couples,” said caregiver Teresa Roux.

People and organisations who wish to assist the home, are welcome to volunteer or make small donations at Nedbank, branch number 138537, The Glen, Account number: 1385066741 or call Teresa Roux on 083 267 8876.
