Roja, our own Mrs India SA finalist

Roja Chetty will donate 50% of her winnings to Door of Hope and 50% to Rivers charity should she win Mrs India SA in August.

ALBERTON- Should she be bestowed with the honour of wearing the crown as Mrs India SA, Roja Chetty will donate 50 per cent of her winnings to Door of Hope and 50 per cent to Rivers Foundation.

This loving mother, wife and entrepreneur from Meyersdal was encouraged by her husband, Brandon, to enter the pageant which started in 2007.

She completed her BA in Arts and has worked in the clothing industry both in SA and the USA.

In 2014 she started working from home and she is now a merchandiser of local children’s clothing. “I have a passion for local design” she says.

Her and Brandon are also creating a computer programme to assist people who work in the clothing industry and she is waiting to hear if the Department of Trade and Industry is keen to invest.

Roja is involved in Rivers Foundation where she helps to make sandwiches for underprivileged children. The foundation feeds 1 620 children every week. On Thursdays, Roja works with babies at the Door of Hope. She has “adopted” 11-month-old Letabo, who she feeds, hugs and plays with.

Roja says: “If everyone does a little bit we can make such a difference.”

The final crowning takes place August 15, in Sibiya, Durban. There are four Gauteng finalists and six from Natal.
