There was a special address by the Member of Parliament for Johannesburg South, Manny de Freitas.

THE Democratic Alliance (DA) Youth Johannesburg South Constituency held a debate, at Mondeor High School.

There was a special address by the Member of Parliament for Johannesburg South, Manny de Freitas, followed by a “know your DA” game, where the people in attendance were asked various questions about the DA and then a debate was held regarding issues which currently affect the Youth.

DA Youth JHB South Chair Nazrana Hogarth said, “This was a truly wonderful event, as it was nice to engage with the youth and find out what issues they are currently facing. It is important that the community know that the DA cares for the youth in our communities!”

DA Johannesburg South Secretary Michael Crichton said that it is very pleasing to see that young people are showing an interest in politics with the 2016 local government elections coming up, as their votes could possibly have a big say in the outcome of the election.

Manny de Freitas said, “I was very glad to be able to address and take questions from such a young and diverse audience of people.” He further added that it is time for the youth to start taking ownership of their future and it begins with initiatives such as these.
