Attacked on N12: No positive ID yet

Two victims of the brick-throwing incident, which took place on the N12 just before The Glen, are recovering.

ALBERTON – According to Darrel Badenhorst, Marionette Slabert’s boyfriend, she is doing a lot better.

“She is awake and she is recovering well,” Darrel told the RECORD.

Caden Slabbert’s father, Justin, has also said that Caden is doing much better and that he is responding in some ways.

“He has not started speaking yet but there is positive progress every day.”

Caden and Marionette were victims of a vicious attack on April 30. They were injured after a pedestrian, standing on the side of the N12 West, threw bricks at passing vehicles.

Since the attack, several people have been brought in for questioning, but no positive ID has been made at the time of going to print.

According to CPF Mondeor (Sector One and Two), CPF patrollers are working tirelessly to catch the suspect.

“Mondeor SAPS Precinct and CPF patrollers in Linmeyer have been working around the clock to catch the brick thrower. There have been suspects who have been taken in for questioning by SAPS Alberton and Mondeor. Unfortunately there has been no breakthrough as yet. We will continue to search for the brick thrower,” said Michelle Pelser, the CPF Mondeor Sector One and Two spokesperson.

Michelle also mentioned that they been in constant contact with the families.

“On behalf of the CPF and SAPS Mondeor, we would like to wish Marionette and Caden a full and speedy recovery,” she said.

She also thanked the patrollers for their passionate work and their dedication.
