Lost boy taken home

It was established that he got lost while attending the Easter Church Service in Natalspruit.

ON April 7 Sgt Gqoba of Mondeor Social Crime Prevention and Cst Mnguni of Mondeor Corporate Communication received a man in his 20s who was mentally challenged, he was found lost in Eikenhof Informal Settlement on April 6.

Upon inquiry he says his name is Khehla Mahlaba of Lakeside, Ematjotjombeni. The officers proceeded to Lakeside in Evaton and couldn’t find the lost boy’s home. The officers went to all the clinics, police station and all the squatter camps of Orange Farm, Ennerdale and Eikenhof with no luck.

The officers proceeded to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital Social Services and was assisted by the head of department Dudu, and Fikile who questioned the boy and finally found that he was from Vryheid, Lakeside.

The social workers contacted Vryheid SAPS and spoke to Cst Mkhize, who knew the boy. It was established that he got lost while attending the Easter Church Service in Natalspruit. The boy was returned to Natalspruit.

The police are appealing to the community from every province to make sure that when visiting other provinces either church services etc. with mentally challenged people, they must make sure they have an identity in the pocket with contact numbers of the next of kin.
