When hope is the only resolution

Problems range from people who dump carelessly, City Power's constant outages to City Parks non-responsive mode.

WHAT does one do when all avenues have been exhausted? Hope is the only answer, hope that maybe some day sanity will prevail.

Dirk Kobus* is a very frustrated man. Not only does he pay his rates and taxes, he is a responsible citizen of Rosettenville Extension.

His problems range from people who dump carelessly, City Power’s constant outages to City Parks non-responsive mode.

“I always record the date, time and a person who I lodged a complaint with, so I have every record of my correspondence. There are tall trees on the corner of Valda and Lang streets, every time there’s wind, the branches will touch the electric wires and cause short circuits resulting in power outages. Next time my appliances will perish, because I sometime see the effect it has on my light bulbs. All City Parks needs to do is to cut the trees!” he explained.

Inconsiderate people who dump in almost every corner infuriates Dirk, because it makes the area untidy and attracts rats.

“You can take a walk around the streets of Rosettenville and Rosettenville Extension, and see that in almost every corner there’s a pile of rubbish, from big plastic bags to mattresses. I also contacted the area manager, but finding him is impossible,” said Dirk.

He is also concerned about unkempt pavements. Some of Dirk Kobus’s references are ref: 19424454, ref: 19438309, ref: 19539525 and ref: 19591745.

Then what can you do if you follow the right channels to report faults in the world-class city, but still you reach the dead-end? he asks.

City Parks was contacted, they haven’t responded.
