Driver flees after accident

Furniture and clothing were strewn next to the freeway when JMPD arrived.

ORMONDE – A driver of a bakkie is said to have fled the scene after crashing into a vehicle carrying furniture on the M1 near the Gold Reef City on the morning of Sunday March 1.

The Star reported that by the time the police and paramedics arrived on the scene, the driver of the other vehicle was nowhere to be found.

According to the reporter, Botho Molosankwe, Petros Moyo and a helper had moved a client from Freedom Park and were taking her in his bakkie to her new home in Hillbrow.

Moyo was driving at 80km/h in the slow lane when he heard a loud bang and felt an impact on the side. His vehicle flipped over, rolled several times and landed on its side, facing oncoming traffic. Petrol and oil leaked out and the shattered windscreen had a big hole in the middle.

Moyo’s client’s furniture laid scattered and broken on the scene.

ER24’s Russel Meiring told The Star that one person was hurt and two had minor injuries.
