Jo’burg Prawn Festival will once again kick-start the first leg of the much loved SA Triple Crown.

Jo’burg Prawn Festival will once again kick-start the first leg of the much loved SA Triple Crown on Saturday February 28. The annual festival is in its fourth year and is well known for drawing thousands of patrons to Turffontein Racecourse.

In addition to the thrilling horse racing on offer, Saturday February 28 will see the return of the ever popular Jo’burg Prawn Festival where tons of king prawns will be sold for just R150 a kilo with chips or rice. Live entertainment in the beer garden will offer adults hours of fun whilst the younger generation will have free access to the children entertainment area available on-course.

National Marketing Manager for Phumelela Gaming, Michael Varney said, “The success of last year’s Jo’burg Prawn Festival has grown so much that this year we have had top up the supply of the king prawns. We are expecting a large crowd as the racing fraternity and prawn lovers join us for what has become an extremely popular family day out.”

The first leg of the Triple Crown at Turffontein on Saturday, will provide the best of South African horse racing with five feature races on the card, including the R1 million(Grade 2) Betting World Gauteng Guineas and the R500 000 (Grade 2) Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara.
