45 taxis blocking Rea Vaya lane impounded

The taxi drivers were trying to block the Rea Vaya lane but ended up losing their vehicles as they had no permit.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Taxi drivers were shocked when their short-lived strike cost them 45 vehicles in the Johannesburg CBD, after they tried to block the Rea Vaya lane in Booysens on Wednesday February 25.

Even though the Rea Vaya bus drivers went on strike earlier in February, leaving the lanes unused, JMPD Spokesperson Edna Mamonyane told EWN: “That lane has been dedicated to Rea Vaya and people must understand even if Rea Vaya is not in operation, they cannot use that lane.”

Do you think taxi drivers or motorists should use the lane when they are not in use, comment on the website, Facebook or let us know of your opinion by sending a letter to jamesm@caxton.com
