Lack of service delivery in Ward 57

There is a serious lack of service delivery in the area.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Ward 57 Residents are at their wits’ end with the service delivery they receive from the government.

The residents have been upset with the constant street lights that are not working, overgrown grass, potholes, load shedding. There is a serious lack of service delivery in the area.

“The areas that are most effected are South Hills, Elandspark, Regents Park, La Rochelle, Moffatview and Rewlatch. Our children cannot make use of the parks because the grass is overgrown, it is not safe sometimes, and there are broken bottles that are laying in the grass. Our elderly who lives in the retirement villages cannot sit and enjoy the view of their gardens as council takes their time to keep the garden’s neat.

“Every corner where you look has piles of rubbish lying there for weeks. Residents in La Rochelle are too scared to walk in the street, their children cannot go to shops, on every corner you find drug dealers selling drugs freely, the night clubs go on until the early hours of the morning.

“On a daily basis you hear about hijacked houses in the area I can go on and on. The list is endless. There is no respect for the laws or by-laws.I think it is time to shame the ANC-led government for their lack of service delivery, and they should start taking the residents’ pleas more seriously. The question we should ask is why believe in a government that leaves you in the dark? You as the residents have the power to make that change,” said Ward 57 Cllr Faeeza Chame.
