Health Department requests permission to vaccinate girls in schools

Region F parents are urged to sign consent forms by the JHB Department of Health.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The City of Johannesburg Health Department in Region F will be conducting a HPV (Human Papillomavirus) campaign, targeting grade four girls who are nine years old in all the public schools.

The purpose of the campaign is prevention of cancer of the cervix, which is one of the main killers for women.

The campaign for Dose 1 will be conducted between Monday February 23 and Friday March 20, and Dose 2 will be administered between October and November.

However, girls who received their first dose in October 2014 will not receive their second dose in February, as the time period since their first dose is less than five months.

Girls who missed the second dose in October 2014 will not be vaccinated this February, but they will receive their second dose in October so that all the second doses are administered in October.

For more information contact Lorraine Dibakoane on 011 618 8087 or 082 552 6146.
