Rotunda Park set for massive revamp

The revamped park will have running tracks, a gym and picnic shelters.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Ward 124 ANC councillor Sydney Radebe is proud to announce to the community of Turffontein that a massive revamp project will change Rotunda Park starting Monday January 16.

The new park will see its green pitch revamped so that it can accommodate a skate court, sport field, entrance feature, children playground, fitness trackand picnic shelters.

The park’s gym area and gym equipments as well as cycling space on both De Villiers and High Street will be increased.

“The new park will definitely be a place for enjoyment for the community, and we are still in talks to even have a big TV installed in the middle of the park for big sporting events so that people can come together and enjoy watching a sport match,” said Radebe.

The Rotunda Park Precinct project will not only massively revamp the park and create employment, but will also lead to the development of De Villiers Street and High Street, which will be a great benefit to attract investors and help restore Turffontein to its original tidy state.

Both these streets, which intersect in the middle of the Rotunda Park, will be developed to be very attractive, with chairs for people to sit and lots of walking space for pedestrians.

Speaking to the COURIER to inform fellow residents who could not make it to the community briefing about the Rotunda Park Precinct” project, Cllr Radebe added: “The contractors are already on site and people can start expecting development and work to take place in the park from Monday January 26. I am very proud of the ANC-led government’s big development in the City of Johannesburg, because they have a vision to see Johannesburg as a city that is well developed and a first choice for investors.”
