Elderly couple escapes unharmed during robbery

Crime affects another elderly couple in the south

MONDEOR – A case of house robbery was opened at Mondeor SAPS after an elderly couple, estimated to be in their sixties, was held up by robbers in their home.

According to information by Mondeor Sector 2 CPF, three men managed to gain entry onto the elderly couple’s property, thereafter, held them up before taking valuables such as jewellery, money, three brief cases and several house and business keys.

While these criminals were helping themselves to the couple’s belongings, they tied them up, together with their gardener. Fortunately, none of the victims were harmed during or after the robbery.

The criminals loaded the stolen goods into the robbery victims Gold Merc C250 and made their getaway. However, the vehicle was later recovered by Netstar in Rosettenville reportedly by Mondeor Sector 2 CPF, thirty minutes after it was stolen.

CPF patrollers Sector 2 were on scene with the flying squad at the recovery of the vehicle. Victim support Mondeor provided trauma counselling to the couple and gardener.

Mondeor SAPS Communications Officer, Constable Mnguni said they can confirm that a case of house robbery was opened with Mondeor SAPS. According to Constable Mnguni, a Forensic expect attended the scene of the robbery with CPF and Chubb.
