Biker killed – driver critical in Vanderbijlpark

A man is in a critical condition after a collision between a bakkie and motorcycle this afternoon, (January 9) on Delfos Road in Vanderbijlpark.

VANDERBIJLPARK – ER24 Crisis Communicator Russel Meiring reported, “When paramedics arrived on scene they found a motorcycle and bakkie lying in the middle of the intersection.

“The body of the biker lay in the middle of the road next to his vehicle.”

On assessment, paramedics discovered that the biker showed no signs of life and had sustained severe injuries to his head, chest and left leg.

Meiring said in a statement, “Paramedics immeciately began CPR as well as providing the patient with advanced life support.

“After 20 minutes of CPR, the patients vital signs returned and he immediately transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni for further treatment.”

Unfortunately the patient succumbed to his severe injuries and was declared dead on arrival at hospital.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
