South Hills against AIDS

Cllr Faeeza Chame and her ward took to the streets to educate the community about HIV/AIDS.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – More than 130 residents of South Hills collected red ribbons and pamphlets to show their support and interest to stand together to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Ward 57 is known to bring everyone together to support good cause and this time they did it with style; sharing valuable information that can and will save lives.

DA Councillor Faeeza Chame said: “I want all the community to know that HIV is not a death sentence. Many people know about HIV and the benefits of safe sex, but still get infected with HIV; this is to further educate and discourage risky behaviors among our people.

“We also found that some elderly people thought they could not get infected as they dated other elderly people. However it is not so, everyone can get infected and that is why we encourage the ABC method: Abstain, Be faithful, and Condomise.”
