RIDGEWAY – According to a status update on the Glenvista Community Policing Forum Facebook page, the man ran out the house to find men trying to hijack his daughter in her BMW having boxed her in the driveway in what was described as ‘a classic hijack manoeuvre’.
The status update read, “The hijackers opened fire on the father who returned fire with his licensed firearm shooting one hijacker in the head.
“The others fled leaving the injured hijacker behind who has been taken to hospital by police. Booysens SAPS were on scene where they have recovered the hijacker’s firearm and cellphone.”
The Glenvista Victim Support Unit was also at the scene counselling the traumatised family. Bullet holes are present in the garage door where the hijackers shot at the father and bullet casings litter the scene of the shootout.
