EMPD prays for road users

N12 becomes a scene of hope as choir members and officials hold hands and pray for safety of road users.

THE Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department came together with various denominations and took hands to pray at the scene of the recent accident on the N12 just before the Voortrekker off-ramp.

The prayer formed part of the EMPD Festive Season prayer session. Multiple denominations, choirs and officials came together to pray over the road, road users and the authorities that keep residents safe.

Councillor Thumbu Mahlangu, the MMC for Roads and Transport Planning, welcomed those who were present on the day. Ms Ugeshni Naidoo, the Acting Chief of Police, was also present on the day and shared insight on why the prayer session was held.

Ms Naidoo also shared some wise words, reminding the audience that just because you have a driver’s licence it does not automatically mean that you are a safe driver, just as owning a lottery ticket does not make you an automatic winner.

Church choirs and the EMPD choir were also present and praise and worship formed part of the program.

After the welcoming, opening and discussion of the purpose of the day, everyone proceeded to the N12 where the recent truck accident took place.

EMPD closed the N12 for a few minutes, while everyone took hands to pray for the safety of road users and officials over the festive season.
