Gauteng SAPS denies Meyiwa arrests

Gauteng police said reports that two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa are not true. This comes after earlier reports suggested arrests were made in KwaZulu-Natal.

“There is nothing like that. We are still investigating… the reports are untrue,” Brigadier Neville Malila was quoted by News24.

According to the SABC reports on Wednesday October 29, two suspects were held for questioning after they were arrested in Nongoma, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. They were reportedly arrested following a tip-off by members of the public.

Meyiwa, was shot dead in Vosloorus, while visiting his girlfriend, singer and actress Kelly Khumalo, on Sunday night.

Meyiwa’s funeral will be held in Durban on Saturday.
