Bellavista Old Age Home gets help

Seniors finally get help

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – In the previous issue of the Southern COURIER, the seniors of Bellavista Old Age home had complained about a lack of sufficient service, but today they are relieved as things are getting better.

After a meeting with Reuven, Bellavista seniors were told they will be invited to the socials and fun events, as they always wished to be a part of.

This makes the seniors very happy, because they know it is not the municipality but private companies and NGOs that host these events.

“The solar geysers were installed by City Power as a pilot project at Reuven. No other old age homes was done in the region. Once properly analysed and evaluated, the project may be extended to other facilities in line with approved plans.

“In old age homes grass are cut on a monthly cycle in line with the grass cutting schedule. The Housing department will look at this matter and corrective action taken. The terrain lighting is also receiving immediate attention. At times reported incidents take time due to procurement process that has to be followed.

“The gutters are part of preventative maintenance and will be attended to accordingly,” said City of Johannesburg’s Deputy Director of Media Relations, Nthatisi Modingoane.

The leaking drain was fixed with great urgency as the city would not allow for seniors to live in such an unhealthy environment.

NGO organisations and people who wish to donate or help the seniors in any way are welcome to call Ms. Wessels at 084 589 3189.
