ATM bombers leave inked money behind

Nobody was injured and no shot was fired

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Five men with AK47 firearms bombed an ATM at Bouquet Street, Rosettenville around 02:00 in the morning.

The men left an undisclosed amount of money full of ink on the scene shortly after bombing the FNB ATM.

Fortunately nobody was injured and no shot was fired, Moffatview police is still investigating.

Moreover, two other  ATMs at Viva Supermarket, Mentz Street were bombed by six men and undisclosed amount of money was taken on Thursday October 23.

At 05:45 employees from the supermarket were opening the premises when they were approached by six unknown males. Warrant Officer Lorraine van Emmerik confirmed the incident.

“Two of them were armed, one with sort gun and the other with pistol. The suspects entered the shop and bombed the ATMs. They fled in a white BMW 3 series. Explosive unit on the scene,” explained W/O Van Emmerik.

Another ATM was bombed in Rosettenville, corner Verona and Bouquet streets this week.
